After
a long wait, the construction of the Belhaven Post
Office began November 1st. The Post Office was located
on Allen Street, behind Town Hall for many years,
but due to the Hurricanes of 1996 and subsequent habitual
flooding the post office was temporarily relocated
to Main Street until a permanent site could be found.
After several years of searching the United States
Postal Service, Real Estate Division approved a site
for the new construction on Old County Road.
The
contractor for the Post Office is Walsh Builders,
Inc. and the proposed completion date is four months.
