Meet
the Town Council

Mayor
O'Neal was born in Belhaven on January 31, 1969. He
has been a life long resident of the Belhaven area
except for his years at North Carolina State University
where he graduated with a B.A. in Business Management.
He
has served the Belhaven area as a securities and insurance
broker since graduating from NC State University
in 1991. In 1999 Mayor O'Neal started a real estate
company that is now known as United Country O'Neal
and Associates, Inc. with four locations; Bath, Belhaven,
Aurora and Washington. Mayor O'Neal is blessed with four children.

Mac Pigott was born in Wilmington,N.C. on June 26 , 1957.He
moved to Belhaven in 1980 where he worked for The Blue
Channel Corp , a blue crab processing company.Since 1991 he
has been active in the seafood industry and recently earned
his real estate license.
Mac received a B.S. in Food Science from North Carolina
State University in 1979. His wife,Annie is a nurse at Pitt
Memorial Hospital.They have one son, Leigh who is a
sophomore at East Carolina University in Greenville , N.C. |

Mayor Pro-Tem J. Nelson Guy was born in south Georgia in 1947. Moved to Auburndale, Florida near what is now Disney World in 1950 and remained there through High School and College where he majored and received his degree in Music.
After a tour in Viet Nam where he was wounded and received a purple heart He, his wife Edith and two children Greg and Melisa moved to North Carolina. His family moved to Belhaven in 1984, after renting different houses in Belhaven in 1999 they found and bought the perfect home. The family has been members of Belhaven Missionary Baptist Church since 1984. Mr. Nelson, as he is called by the youth, is a deacon and the music director.
Our children Greg and Melisa are graduates of East Carolina University and have blessed us with 6 super grandchildren.

Born in Norfolk, VA in 1951 and raised in Fort Myers,
Florida. Moved to Belhaven in 1964 and attended and
graduated from John A. Wilkinson HS in 1969. Attended
Beaufort Community College, Pitt Community College and East
Carolina University. I have lived at 547 East Street since
1982. I have worked in Belhaven all my adult life, owning
and operating a contracting business for 35 years. I am now
engaged in the real estate development business with United
Country O’Neal and Associates. My wife Karen and I have 4
grown children and 3 grandchildren. I am extremely proud to
be a resident and an elected official representing the
people of Belhaven.

Councilman Stanley is a Belhaven native, and he graduated from Belhaven High School. He is employed by Stanadyne Corporation in Washington, NC, where he has been since 1981. Prior to that he was a Supervisor with National Spinning Company for 16 years. He also owns Stanley’s Car Wash in Belhaven.
Mr. Stanley is a member of St. Miller Missionary Baptist Church, and he is a member of Golden Trowel Lodge #97. He has long been active in civic organizations and is totally committed to working with the youth in our community.
He has been married to Mrs. Queen Ester Carter Stanley for 51 years, has 2 children, is raising a nephew, and has six grandchildren. He is honored to be serving the people of Belhaven and is dedicated to working toward a better Belhaven for all of us. |

Robert L. Stanley

Councilman Moore was born and raised in Belhaven, and graduated from Belhaven High School. He holds Associate’s degrees from Nash Community College in Rocky Mount, and a Business Administration degree from Beaufort County Community College. He is retired from the U.S. Navy, and from the U.S. Postal Services where he retired after 27 years of service. During this time, he served as Postal Clerk, Assistant Postmaster and finished his career as a Head Postmaster.
Howard and his wife, Clare, have four daughters, four grandchildren, and a god-daughter.
He loves the Town he grew up in, and is proud to be part of the positive changes occurring here. |
